Pre-Christmas Ski Trip

Grand Targee occasionally has two-fer days, where you get two tickets for the price of one. So we decided to go.

Jann getting Big Jack ready.

Sam had to go back to skiing, since Pete is back
from his mission. No more free snow boards.

Adam getting happy.

Laura was glad not to be snow boarding.

Pete looking nervous, after not having boarded in two years.

Not exhausted yet..

Laura and Adam.

Big Jack.

Jann, looking like a pro.

Lunch at midday.

Pete and Adam at the top of Dream Catcher.

At the end of the day, we were all tired enough to go home and get some Little Ceasar's.

Help for the Old Fogies

I've been making canes for a couple of people in the ward. It has been a very interesting experience. I'm learning how to make long, slender things on the lathe. It takes some practice.

I like the duck head one especially. It is all walnut. The other is Oregon myrtle and maple.

Christmas Tree Hunt

The annual Murdock Christmas tree hunt was more fun than ever this year, because of the snow. There was about a foot and a half on the ground at Stoddard Creek, and the snow kept falling.

Brett helps Sam get his hood on straight.

Amy sitting in the snow.

Jann getting bundled up.

Brian and Jack.

Grandma and Grandpa were looking for a tree thiiis big.

Jann in soft focus.

After walking around for hours, we picked this one. Here's Sam shaking the snow off.

And here he is thinking that Grandpa's bow saw was pretty teeny.

But, away we go hacking it down.

And within short order, there it lies.

Then came the arduous task of dragging it back to the vehicles. You can see Brett and Amy's, and the grandparents' trees in the background.

Making the hot cocoa afterwards.

And eating tangerines.

Stuffing faces.

And enjoying the warmth.

No such thing as bad weather. Just inappropriate clothing. Unless you live in Texas. It's hard to take off more when you're already naked and boiling.
