Almost Harriman Again

We're sad to be all alone again, just the four of us. So Monday, for MLKJr day, we went cross country skiing. We were going to go to Dubois, but they don't have any snow. Even up on the pass. So we headed up highway 20 for Harriman. But after we got up the Ashton hill, we decided to just stop at a pullout, and ski into the trees there.

Adam getting ready.

Jack too.

We started on a snowmobile track, but it just paralleled the road.

So we struck out bushwhacking.

The halfway point.

Headed back.

Lodgepoles.

Amazing downhill rush.

Cross country is just like downhill without the fun.

And there was plenty of this.

And this.

Jann had to scrape the ice off her skis so she could glide back.

We had tons of fun, but it was a lot of work, and we all got pretty sweaty.

Harriman State Park

Candace wanted to go to Harriman, so after she left, we all went. I asked the ranger if we could walk on the groomed trails, and she said only if you've got something under your feet. I said we'd all have boots under our feet. She meant skis or snowshoes. But she let us walk anyway, since it was plenty hard.

Waiting for Pops to show up. (Slow Pops.)

Madelyn says "I can see him."

Lily says "Yep, that's really him."

Lily pretty soon crapped out and needed to be pulled around.

Rory, helping to get her comfortable.

This is why we came. Trumpeter swans.

Rory's Birthday

New Year's Day.

Rory made himself a baked Alaska, and used a flamethrower to brown the meringue.

The grandparents talking to Sara.

Almost all of us.

The birthday boy.

Every Four or Five Years, You Have to Go Bowling

We were trying to think of ways to use up time. Perfect.

The counterweight helps with the pitch.

Oh, man!

Jack.

Rory outscored all of us. By far.

Madelyn getting the hang of it.

Widdy lets one rip.

Love that missing tooth.

Pete, releasing low and fast.

Candace chucking it.

Chasing a loose one.

This one didn't hit until half way down. Oops.

Monica.

Can you see how far ahead he is?

Wedding Day

Grandpa Johnson had the joy of sealing Sam and Angie. Afterwards, some few photos. I'll post a few of the official ones when I get them.

The happy couple.

I'm not sure why I had my suit buttoned so weird.

Porter looking on.

Jeff and René, with William.

William is taller than all of us.

Dad and his new wife Suzanne.

All the sisters.

All the brothers.
