Table Rock ... Again

Em wanted to go on an "adult" hike, so we did Table Rock again For Jack and me, that was twice in one month.

Jarom Schill came too.

Trudging up Face is such a slog. Here we are most of the way to the meadow. Jack and Em took a little spur to see the sights, before resuming the climb.

Resting. See in the background how steep it is? We're basically going straight up that.

The meadow at the top was in bloom. Em couldn't wipe her silly grin off her face.

Resting again.

Almost there. Table Rock is to the left there, and the Grand is just peeking up.

This was Jarom's first time. He wanted to go faster than the rest of us.

It was raining ever so slightly, and I got droplets on my lens. We had a nice lunch, but before I got any shots of us with the Grand,it clouded over, and got cold, and started to rain harder, and when I picked up my trekking poles, they sizzled with electricity. We chickened out at this point and dashed off the rock.

Jack, looking small.

Doesn't look too dark up there, but I was sceered of lightening.

On the way down.

Pumping water.

Jumping rocks.

It was gorgeous and muy entertaining, and Em had a blast.

Summer Fun

Em and the girls have been visiting for a few weeks. Sara and her girls are here too. Occasionally they see each other.

Lily is so sweet you just have to kiss her once in a while.

Madelyn in Toot's garden.

Lilly inspecting the onions.

Candace end Pete and an un-named third party.

The girls after church. Only a small tear, and a small bonk.

I had to sneak a photo of Laura.

Rose, on Grandpa's slippy slide.

Ruby riding in style.

Madelyn has a go too.

Toots ate it up.

Lily, working on her tan.

Cliff Fly

Pete and Candace and Laura came to visit last weekend. Pete brought his plane and we flew at the Kepps cliff.

The hot red car.

I really wish I had taken this shot about half a second later. The wind blows straight up the cliff face, so he's throwing this into a vertical column of wind. That means the plane all of a sudden pointed straight down and dove. Easy to recover, but a bit surprising.

Cruising in the ample lift.

A man at home with his machine.

We flew for about an hour and a half. Both of Pete's "landings" and one of mine were unintentional. But such is the nature of flying close to a cliff.

Come back so we can do it again, Pete. (Or maybe I'll hop down when you have a kid!)

Table Shock

We did Table Rock on Saturday. As usual, it was beautiful, and painful. We go up Face, and down Huckleberry. It's a long slog down, and I got kind of painful feet by the end. I forgot my trekking poles on out Yellowstone hike recently, and was determined not to do it again. However, I grabbed Jann's ski poles instead of my trekking poles, so not so good.

Brian and Jack, at 10,000 ft, as if it were nothing.

Looking down the Huckleberry cliff, with Table Rock and the Grand back there.

Brian, Jack, Matthew, and Brett, looking for rocks to push over.

Go northwest.

Snack stop, with Table Rock seemingly close at hand. There were many travelers that day.

Jann being happy we had all made it.

Brett, conducting some business.

View of inspiration point, and the three Tetons.

Me, with Jann's ski poles strapped down.

Matt belly sliding.

Brian is off...

... and away.

Jack just flying.

Couldn't quite get it moving.

Just about to drop down into Huckleberry.

It was totally worth it.

The End of the Parade

We caught the very end of the parade today, because Adam was there. We also saw caricatures of Hillary and the Donald, but I didn't take any photos.

Rose, trying to see what's happening.

Getting in good position, for the purpose of getting more candy.

Adam, trying to goose a turtle.

We were there for 20 minutes.

Rose's star hair.

Ruby's side pony.
