Pete's Acromioclavicular Separation

All of the kids and I went to play Ultimate with some of the college kids in my ward. We had a nice game until some goofball bowled right over Peter. He was knocked off his feet, and as he headed down, decided to roll on his shoulder, rather than do a face plant. The top of his shoulder hit the ground, and he suffered an AC separation, where the clavicle partially or fully separates form the acromion process of the scapula. This is a separated shoulder, rather than a dislocated one.

Like this. Probably a Grade 2 or 3. He was in mucho pain, and was going quite shocky, so I took him to the emergency room, where they gave him a pain shot and a sling.

After the shot, he felt much better.

See how his left shoulder is very much bigger than his wimpy right shoulder. Swelling, not musculature.

We'll take him to the doctor tomorrow to see what he says. Hopefully, there will be no permanent damage.

Ruby Comes to Visit

Ruby is waiting for her mom and dad and sister to come home from the hospital. So she came here to keep us company for a day.

She decided to make some brownies, and asked Ian/Jack to help.

She chose to make brownies from Jann's Death by Chocolate cookbook, with some Mayan cocoa with a touch of cinnamon.

Here she has decided that she made a wise choice. The batter was delicious.

Jack agrees. Now they just have to wait for them to bake.

The Big Boys Play Disc Golf

One of the happy things in life is the chance to go disc golfing with my boys. Today we went to Freeman Park in Idaho Falls. It was pretty windy, but we had fun anyway.

The bigger your belly, the further you can throw. The is the tee for hole 1, which is very short, and we should be birdying it every time. We're not.

Pete got a couple of new discs for his birthday (a day early), and he's really happy about it.

Sam showing his usual putting face.

Pete putting one in.

Actually, this is Sam's real putting face.

Adam throws lefty for some reason. He is getting better, and got a personal best of 13 over par today.

Adam teeing off on hole 4.

Pete and Sam have figured out how to forehand. Adam and I haven't got it yet.
