Phelps Lake and the Rockefellers

Jann, Jack, Brian and I went for a hike around Phelps Lake, and a visit to the Rockefeller Preserve. We had a smashing day.

Jack and Brian at the trail head. It was about a 6.5 mile hike around the lake.

Phelps is a beautiful little moraine lake, surrounded by the Tetons.

Trying not to fall backwards.

At the far end of the lake, there was a nice little sandy beach, where we all waded around a bit.

Not sure if those are mosquitos or burrs on the moose's bum. Here's hoping they were not bugs. We certainly didn't see any.

We had lunch on a little prominence called Huckleberry Point. We were all starving by the time we got there.

Little boy with four arms and feet, and three ears?

Nice little walkway over a bog (wetland).

Almost ready to leave the lake, and head back.

Back at the Rockefeller Center, one of the rangers had some owl pellets for the boys to dissect. They found lots of tiny little bones and teeth.

Jack with a rodent skull.

Brian with a shrew skull?

End of the hike, and time for the candy shop.

Madelyn Gets a Blessing

Seems like we're spending every weekend in Provo..

Emily thinking about how much fun it is to be a new mother.

Madelyn thinking about eating.

Having a rest.

Man, she has fat cheeks.

Grandma Jo showing off Madelyn's fancy polka dot pants.

What a nice family we make.

Jann has a very secure hold on her.

Baby looking slightly deranged.

Life is good.

Lehi Highland Games

Perhaps Pete's last highland games..

Getting ready, with some nutritious Pop Tarts.

Rory pretending he's pregnant. Madelyn pretending she's asleep.

Jason Lenz is Pete's best drumming buddy. Here, Pete thinks he's funny. Jason thinks he needs to hit Pete.

We say plenty of flying skirts, hammers, and cabers, but watching Madelyn was even more entertaining.

David "le" Rock preparing to take his band on the field.

Stepping in time.

Jason and Pete.

Only Pete.

Pete and Jason.

Swigging some home-brewed root beer afterward.

Madelyn Wren O'Connor

Madelyn was born on June 28, in the wee hours. Emily was about a week overdue, so the doctors decided to induce her. She spent 29 hours in "labor," but only the last couple in real labor. Mostly she starved, because they wouldn't give her any food, and chatted with Rory and Jann and the little boys (Adam and Jack). When she finally came, she was 8 lb 12 oz, and 21 in long.

Uncle Big Adam with Baby.

Granny Jann and recovering Em.

The small boys went down to Southern Utah to play with the Schills, and then The big kids and I drove down to Provo on Saturday.

Uncle Pete.

Aunt Laura.

Grandpa me.

Uncle Sam wants you.

Em cooing to her Madelyn.

The happy family.
