Hunting in the Cold

This year we decided to outdo ourselves, and cut down a tree that was so heavy as to be all but impossible to move. Thad and Jeff and the grandparents came with, as did the Adams family.

Big Thad, north of Kilgore.

Nothing yet..

Jeff, dad of Thad.

Still nothing.

Maybe over here..

I'm tired of looking.

Ok, we got something. It's a bit bigger than usual though.

Jack minding the equipment while we figure out how to move the tree.

It eventually took cutting off five feet from the bottom, and four of us dragging before we could move it.

Five feet are already missing from the trunk.

Yay, Laura.

Heaving it up to the roof.

Granny and Gramps enjoying themselves in the freezing weather.

Adam dude and Jack dude.

The grandparents got a much more reasonably-sized tree.

Grandpa got pictures of the Adamses and their tree, but even the Adams boys were nowhere to be seen when we cut their tree down. Afterwards, we all enjoyed hot cocoa and Tang, and small tangerines. When we got the tree home, we lopped off another couple feet off the bottom, and about three feet off the top too. But it's all up and decked now, so let the season begin.

Clean Again

Adam looks clean cut again, so many in our ward will feel more comfortable.

Adam spent an hour at Paul Mitchell, part of it in the lather lounge.

Night Frights

We had a fun Halloween, but didn't get much candy. Jann took a cue from Scott and handed out little cuties with jack-o-lantern faces drawn on them. And Jack didn't want to go trick-or-treating this year. Bummer. I couldn't steal his chocolate.

Jann dressed up in her perfect little witch costume, but I failed to get a photo..

Yoda, ready to defend himself. Juliana Davenport made his adorable little hat.

The jedi master in a lighter moment.

The three dudes.

Cutting my son's hand off.

Aubrey Izaat took Adam on his first date.

Paul and Susie came to say hi too. But just for a little while.

Adam and tori came too, as did Sam's mission president's daughter Claudia, and Candace's sister Monica.

Then Jann said we should go to the Damerons's to get scones. There were little kids there that were in awe of the big Vader dude. One of them (about four) was also dressed as Darth Vader, and kept coming over to talk to me. He was pretty excited, so his dad asked if he could take our picture together. I picked him up and we both did the peace sign for the shot.
