Our Idaho Eclipse!

Grandpa Johnson, and his sister Sharon came up to witness the Great American Eclipse. We had a great time.

Adam got his grandpa to give him his patriarchal blessing.

Grandpa and Sharon.

Sitting around with protective glasses.

Just before first contact.

There it is!

Didn't look like it was traveling at 2000 mph.

Just a sliver left.

Corona! If you click on the larger image of this, you can just see Mercury ab about 8 o'clock.

I missed the diamond ring effect. Fumbling with binoculars..

We were supposed to get thousands of visitors from all over. They were supposed to swamp local resources. We had some, but it didn't look to us like bazillions.

Some out in the field behind the house.

More.

Random cuteness.

It was a truly awesome experience to see totality, and the corona. We even got to see (apparently rare) shadow snakes! Let's do it again in seven years.

Dunanda

We hiked to Dunanda Falls on Friday. It was a long day hike (19 miles), but it was flat, with almost no climbing.

We started out at the Beckler Ranger Station, at the southwest corner of Yellow Stone.

We wandered through snake grass.

Waded trough rivers.

Angela Huish, Sam's girlie, came along for the fun.

Laura, pointing at a frog.

Finally, we got there, after 8 or so miles.

Laura, Jack, Sam, Angie, Jann.

Somebody should have brought their flip flops..

There were hot pots! We hung around in the warm water for an hour and a half.

Sam, under the falls.

Dead fishies?

I needed one photo of my fat white tummy.

On the way back, the Grand Teton in the distance.

Laura, crossing a log.

We took a different way back (a hair longer, but with a bridge).

Pretty tired, and out of water.

A Day on the Lake

All of the Murdock family (except Brett and Amy) gathered at Evanston to have some fun. Only Adam didn't. I wasn't always on the boat, so I didn't get pictures of everyone on the tube.

Jake, Sam, Ruby, Pete (and Candace and Hazel in there somewhere too), Jeff, Brett Jr., Scott, Adam, and Thad.

The big boys on the tube.

A Rose in the grass.

A Ruby too.

Candace and Hazel after their ride.

We had a nice spot upwind of the outhouse for our picnic spot. Fried chicken for lunch!

Jann shepherding Hazel

Sam,

and Pete, and Adam, after a nice ride.

Hazel, after Jann slathered her with sunscreen.

I'm sure Jeff had fun driving the boat all day. Kate didn't want her picture taken.

Jann and Jill showing their thing. Jack and Ruby just looked on.

Getting bumped about some.

Scott tried the wake surfer.

But, there wasn't enough wake. He looked good anyway.

Jill, admiring her man.

Jann tried the little disc thing.

And Jeff kindly didn't jerk the rope.

The tube, getting whipped out to the side.

Jann, Kate, Jack, and Jill.

Porter, little man.

Evelyn, growing up.

Emma, hiding behind the boys. Or at least trying to hold on.

Splash sequence..

Emma, thinking she's not going to get out of this without being crushed.

Pete and Emma, bonking heads.

Sam, who initiated the flip, going over everyone.

The end.

Ed, losing his grip.

The girls caught him.

Candace out with the boys.

Hold on tight.

Oops. The rope went slack.

Hope they are wearing their personal flotation devices.

Cynthia, relaxing at the shore.

Jake, eating grass.

Rose and Grandpa.

Rose and Grandma.

Grandma did go out on the tube, but I didn't get any shots.

Peekaboo.

Porter, wishing he was old enough to drive.

Cynthia getting bucked around, with Jack, Sara and Jann.

Terrified grins.

The end of the day.

Thanks Jeff and Cynthia, for letting us bother you all day long.
