Poor, Poor Adam

On Tuesday, half way through his last rock climbing lesson, Adam called home, saying he'd injured his ankle. Grandpa went and got him, and when he got home, I decided he'd better get to the emergency room. He couldn't put any weight on it, and it looked oddly misshapen. Turns out he had bimalleolar fractures (the ends of both the tibia and fibula were broken). He got a splint put on, and on Wednesday, after the swelling goes down a bit, he'll get a cast put on.

He was oddly calm about the whole thing, joking on the way to the emergency room that he was sad to ruin the record of no broken bones in the family since Jann's broken arm 40 years ago.

He didn't even seem to be in pain, really. When I asked him if it hurt he said "yes, a little."

He's perfectly happy to be gimping along on his crutches, or hopping without them.

He doesn't ask for us to do things for him, but hops to it himself. A little odd, really. And he's totally ok with it all. He's just glad it wasn't during winter, so he couldn't go snowboarding.

Mom was on her long run this morning, so I got to tend while Rory was off picking up a (pitiful) Bountiful Baskets.

Flying the Point

Jeff drove his Rav4 to Provo for Mark to use at school. It's not Mark's car, though. He wanted something to do for a couple of days, so Grandma, Grandpa and I drove down with some planes, to fly the Point.

Jeff, getting his Moth ready to go.

Grandpa hasn't flown his Zagi for years.

He was a little nervous, but did quite well. Like riding a bicycle?

Mark got his JW ready, and had a blast with it.

Buzzing the lip of the hill.

Thinking about catching it.

Pete said "Let me catch it... Not."

He wanted a second try..

Mom had a great time sitting around waiting for us to have fun.

Two fuselages for my JW. The bird fuse makes it about 95 oz, while the ax handle fuse makes it about 75 oz.

We decided the ax handle makes it look like a goose.

Sometimes we were all in the air together, other times we watched one plane.

Pete, flying my Zagi. Wait, why is he looking back at me? Because he was trying to hit me as he was landing.

Mark was the only one to totally sink out.

Looks ok from here.
