Grand Canyon Graduate

Jann scheduled our hike at the Grand Canyon on the same weekend as high school graduation, so Adam couldn't attend. He went with us. We drove to Provo Friday and watched Solo. We drove to the the South Rim Saturday, and car caped two nights. Then, Brett, Matthew, Jill, Jann, Sam, Angie, Adam and Jack hiked rim to rim. I drove around and met them at the North Rim.

I said "Sam, go pretend like you're helping Angie."

Pancakes and sausage.

Sam and Jack played catch the disc.

Jack, looking serious.

Angie played too, occasionally. But also had a nice spectate.

We cruised around Canyon Village Sunday, seeing the sights.

We took the bus out to Hermit's Rest. It took way longer than we had imagined.

At 5:00 Monday, the hike began.

Adam was dissatisfied with his hiking clothes, but fortunately had packed extra.

See? Better far than attending graduation.

During the heat of the day, he changed back.

Bridge over the Colorado.

At the bottom, about to go through the tunnel.

They hiked past Bright Angel, and lunched at Ribbon Falls.

Jill said she was glad to get the shoes off, and cool off in the water.

In the cave.

After my four-hour drive, I hiked from the North Rim down to Manzanita, and waited there. They came after about half an hour, and Sam waxed poetical.

Brett already wants to go again next year.

Jack resting on an intermittent waterfall.

Supai Tunnel.

Adam enjoying some elk salami.

Scott met us up top. The big group went 22 miles in 13 hours, and I did about 10 on my loop.

Our feet were sore, but it was well worth it. Let's do it again.
