Staging for this race was random, except that each team could get their best freshman in the first heat. Jack was picked as the best frosh, so here he is taking off at the number six position.
A look of grim determination on his face.
He said he warmed up too soon, and then cooled back down before his race, so that the first climb was very painful, as he tried to get his muscles warmed up again.
He said after then, they were just jelly. Here he is, heading into the downhill hairpins.
He said he passed a number of JV riders, who started about 5 minutes before his heat. Here he is getting passed by another frosh.
Nearing the end of lap two, and the finish.
He said he had no sprint left..
The end.
Just a bit dazed.
His water bottle jiggled out of his holder, so someone else handed him one.
Dirty face.
All clean?
After hitting Wendy's for supper, we didn't make it home until 11:00. Next race is at Targhee, so much closer.
