Chandler Johnson and Nick Christman, getting ready.
Sam, also getting ready.
We skied pretty hard, up hill along the road to Relay Ridge. Sam pushed us hard, and I was sweating like crazy. It got dark before we got to the cabin, so we used headlamps for the rest of the trip.
The last little bit was down a little trail that had bushes and trees on either side, so there was no way to snowplow. Sam just headed straight down the track, and made it fine. The rest of us had more difficulty. In the end, I just took my skis off, and walked down to the bottom. A snow machine had been down it, so it was packed enough to walk on.
The cabin was nice and cozy, and we soon had a fire going in the stove. Sam and I cooked ramen soup on the stovetop, and after telling ghost stories for hours, we went to bed. Phil and I got cots to sleep on, and the kids slept on the floor.
Next morning it was starting to snow. We ate a cold breakfast, and headed out.
The three, on the way out.
As we skied out, the snow picked up some.
After climbing up out of the draw the cabin is in, we had a nice run back down the road to the car. This is at the highest point, but before we got to the road.
One shot of the photographer, and his chins.
Phil, back at the car.
Sam, trying to break his rental skis after we got to the car.
On the way home, the snow and wind kicked up to blizzard conditions, and we were lucky to get back home without incident.
That looks so fun! I wish I were a priest.
