Second Grand Canyon?

We hiked to the bottom of the "Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone." There is a trail that goes down to the Yellowstone river, at a place called SevenMile Hole. It was very pretty, and along the way, we came across a clearing we dubbed Raven Meadow. There were literally a hundred or so ravens in and around the large clearing, poking around in the grass and sedges. Insects? Frogs?

The hike was about five miles there, and return to the car. Most of the mileage was over relatively flat ground, but there was a steep descent into the canyon, and a nice stiff hike out.

There were occasional thermal features, like this bubbling spring.

Much of the bottom was covered in this white rock.

The canyon walls were, on occasion, quite colorful. In a muted way.

The river had some nice rapids, but was fairly gentle. It would be a nice float.

This is a very small hot spring we found, with a dead spider in it..

By this time, a few other people were coming down, so it was time to hike back up.
